 > What's "Getting PO'd" all about?

Most everyone coming into the business of federal contracting wants to make their mark by scarfing up so-called "low hanging fruit," those mythical business opportunities they believe no one else knows about that will result in their own personal government contracting windfall. While nothing in this business could be even loosely described as "easy" there are opportunities that have a shorter acquisition cycle than others and are often less arduous to identify, pursue and potentially win.

Pay a visit to the Federal Procurement Data System - Next Generation (FPDS-NG) and you will see where the Government reports its agencies executed more than 840,000 contract actions resulting in purchase orders valued over $15.5 billion dollars being obligated for FY2012. These buys reference 1,170 different NAICS Codes and 2,958 Product Service Codes (PSC).

As of June 2013, federal agencies processed nearly 400,000 contract actions and obligated just shy of $7 billion in purchase order awards, and that's with budget cuts and sequestration on the table.

During upcoming episodes of this educational and informational podcast series, we will virtually travel the Nation (and beyond!) to illustrate what billions of dollars in "easier" federal agency buys looks like. Each update includes an overview of:
