Issue Date: March 26, 2012 | Volume 8 Issue No. 13 |
Greetings! Looking for information and networking that leads to business? Our Small Business Intelligence Community and Cyber Working Group just had a great meeting that included briefings from recent industry days and pre-RFP meetings. It also featured discussions on more than twenty opportunities coming out of four agencies and an overview of a new acquisition strategy that is being watched closely by other agencies. If doing work in support of the U.S. Intelligence Community is on your radar, this members-only activity may be right up your alley. OpportunityInsight is a similar program that is open to the public. It's a pure business development activity focused on upcoming opportunities in the areas of: Information Technology and Cyber; Professional Services; Construction and Facilities Management; and Transportation. The first OpportunityInsight of 2012 happens April 5th in Columbia, MD. This breakfast meeting will focus on IT/Cyber opportunities. OpportunityInsight is produced in partnership with our friend Brian Flood and the rest of the team at DecisionPoint Corporation. Holy Great Idea Batman!!! No, Really!
Folks, you are not going to believe this one. It's a good thing and I'm still trying to recover from the shock to my system. A solid idea has been birthed on the Hill that does not involve merging agencies, inventing the next NAICS Code system, redefining what a small business is or penalizing agencies ten percent of their procurement dollars.

Simplified Acquisition
Spotlight brought to you by the: Federal Agencies Are Off Last Year's Pace, But There is Hope.
We usually have good news to report as it relates to Simplified Acquisitions, and hopefully we'll be able to return to that with next week's installment.
In the spirit of giving you the "lay of the land" for streamline purchase spending, here we go! This time last fiscal year (October 1, 2010 to March 25, 2011) there were 316,000 contract actions processed by federal agencies. For FY2012, we only seen 249,000 actions processed, a decrease of 67,000.
Like to know what this translates into as far as dollars and cents?
