On October 28, 2010, Air Force Materiel Command activated a new
unit to develop strategic contracts for goods and services to be used by all stateside Air Force bases. The unit, called the Enterprise Sourcing Group, is expected to ramp up
and be managing contracts totaling approximately $5 billion a year
within five years.
In addition to executing enterprise-wide,
installation strategic contracts for Air Force bases in the continental
United States, the group also will award contracts for the Air Force
Center for Engineering and Environment, Air Force Civil Engineering
Support Agency and Defense Technical Information Center, as well as
providing support for Air Force medical contracting.
Joining us to discuss the ESG mission is General Donald J. Hoffman,
Commander of Air Force Materiel Command who will provide insight on how
ESG will carry out its mission of helping the Air Force reduce what it
currently spends on common goods and
services by leveraging its purchasing power, standardizing requirements
and eliminating redundant contracting efforts.
