CVOBlog: Thou doth protest too much. Seriously! This is NOT a lawyer joke! (But I wish it was.)

So the other day a lawyer comes to a networking event to rustle up some potential business. During the introductions the lawyer describes the work they do in support of government contractors ranging from FAR compliance and intellectual property issues to teaming agreements and bid protests. "In fact!" the lawyer exclaimed, "If you are the incumbent we can help you file a bid protest to hang on to your work for an additional three and a half months while the government sorts it out!"

In other words, it doesn't matter if there is true justification to protest, let's just do it to hang on to the work a little longer?

THAT is exactly what is wrong with the mentality of a lot of folks in this business. If you can't beat 'em, litigate them to death. Don't worry about the government workers and contractors on the front line providing citizen services or defending our country, they can get by without that new solution or platform anyway! Heck, it would only save the government a bunch of man hours or maybe a few lives. It's not important.

Oh, and the taxpayers, the heck with them too! We can always throw more money at it. Right?

I mean, a senseless protest will only eat up the program budget and potentially set the government back months or years if not kill the program entirely.

For Pete's Sake!
