This coming week is going to be very busy and very productive, so hold on to your hat because this update is chock full of valuable information!

BoB DC, Department of State Teaming Opportunity, New BoB at Ft. Detrick to host Garrison Commander, State of The ASBC Quarterly Membership Meeting, GSA/PBS in the Red Zone this Tuesday, BoB Tysons, The ASBC Members Meet with VA Deputy Secretary to Talk Acquisition and New Testimonials from Our Members! WHEW!
MEP + DoS + CJP = OPPORTUNITY! Mission Essential Personnel (MEP), a Founding Member of The American Small Business Coalition that has grown from an aspiring fifteen-person company we met five years ago to a highly regarded and successful enterprise with nearly five-thousand employees, has an opportunity they would like to present to small companies interested being considered for a teaming opportunity.
On August 26th, MEP, a small business themselves just a couple years ago, will conduct a Small Business Outreach Event at the Hyatt Arlington to identify viable small business partners to support the upcoming Department of State (DoS) Criminal Justice Program (CJP) opportunity. Now we hear that MEP's Small Business Advocate, Tochi Lazarevic is planning to be there, but Maggie and I have a feeling that the little bundle of joy Tochi is carrying around in her belly will be making his/her debut any minute now (that's Tochi holding the 2009 Founders' Award at our Fifth Anniversary Conference this past April with Greg Carper, also of MEP). Best wishes from The ASBC for a happy, healthy baby Tochi!
Fort Detrick Business Over Breakfast™ To Host Garrison Commander
This Wednesday at Perkins Restaurant on Holiday Drive, Harry Ponack of Matthew Moving will assume the duties of host at the kickoff of our new BoB in Frederick, MD and will also welcome COL Judith Robinson, Commander of the U.S.Army Garrison at Fort Detrick. They in turn will be accompanied by more than thirty representatives from companies doing business (and seeking business!) with the activities housed at Fort Detrick. We also look forward to seeing our friends Darryl Rekemeyer and Shelia Washington of the Fort Detrick Business Development Office (FDBDO) who have been outstanding partners to The ASBC for years. With the help of the FDBDO and Harry's mastery of the social network platforms, BoB Ft. Detrick in on pace to be our second sold out kickoff event in a row! Hope you can join us!
This Is My Brother BoB And My Other Brother, BoB! No, you're not seeing double, but then again maybe you are. In case you missed some of our recent announcements, BoB was recently cloned which has resulted in a total of five BoB activities. So this week, in addition to the kickoff of Business Over Breakfast™ - Fort Detrick, we will be hosting BoB DC on Tuesday at Busboys & Poets (5th & K St NW) and the original BoB in Tysons on Wednesday. State Of The ASBC Gains Velocity, Loses Fee, Sets Up Red Zone This Tuesday afternoon, we present our first quarterly membership meeting since our Fifth Anniversary Celebration, now in a new location with a new format. What's new is that State of The ASBC is now an afternoon event held at the Velocity Five Sports Restaurant and Bar in Falls Church and through the support of our Events Committee we have managed to eliminate the gate fee, so it is a complimentary event for all Members. Immediately following the State of The ASBC is the second installment of our Red Zone Government Mixer which you can read about next...
That's A Negative Ghost Rider, The Pattern is Full
At 4:30pm, after the State of The ASBC Quarterly Membership Meeting concludes, we will host our second Red Zone Government Mixer featuring guest bartender Kendra Turner (and her team!) from Industry Relations at GSA Public Buildings Service (PBS) earning "tips" to support the LTG Henry Doctor Jr Leadership Award. The good news is we already have more pre-registrations than last month! The bad news is, we are completely sold out. It's going to be a GREAT event and we hope you've already registered so we can see you there! (pictured to the right is our very first Red Zone guest bartender, SBA District DirectorBridget Bean)
Coffee? Tea? Maybe A Chat With The Deputy Secretary? This Thursday, several of our Members will participate in a special forum convened by W. Scott Gould, Deputy Secretary of Veterans Affairs(pictured, left) to discuss initiatives the VA is undertaking to improve its partnership with the vendor community and to assist the Department in transforming and streamlining its acquisition process. This opportunity was the result of someone in our network being extremely gracious and is a shining example of the power of networking.
We send a warm and very sincere "thanks" to former GSA/FTS Commissioner Bob Woods of Topside Consulting for keeping The ASBC and our Members in mind.
