Columbia, MD and Tysons Corner, VA (ASBC5) - - For the last four years, the Founders of The American Small Business Coalition have taken on the challenge of selecting from their membership, those individuals and/or companies who most closely "resemble" the criteria established for the seven awards presented during the organizations' birthday celebration. For the organization's Founders, Margaret and Guy Timberlake, that's typically not an easy thing to do.
In the case of the 2009 New Member of the Year Award, it was a piece of cake!
This award is specifically for an individual or company in their first year of membership with The ASBC that is demonstrating a desire to be involved and make a contribution to their new community. The team at NavtechGPS has done exactly that. Led by their President, Carolyn McDonald, they collectively jumped in with both feet – all nine of them! If you go online to The ASBC Web Portal (or stop by any number of events or meetings) you will find Carolyn, Precy, Yelena, Keith, Nancy, Paul, Tim, Franck and Henry. From those listed we can account for participation in the Women's POCx Group, SBINT, Business Over Breakfast™, Washington Breakfast Club™, the B2G Intelligence Committee, the OTB Mixer, State of The ASBC Quarterly Membership Meetings, the Events Planning Committee and the list goes on. In fact, the next time you attend a Washington Breakfast Club™ event, keep an eye open for Yelena as she'll be the one snapping a picture when you shake hands with the presenter. NavtechGPS also boasts four members in the new ASBC Toastmasters Club which got its start at the end of 2008.
"I had the pleasure of participating in the NavtechGPS twenty-fifth anniversary celebration recently. The impression I came away with after being with this group for a few hours is that they are a family," explains Guy Timberlake. "It's tough to be in business nowadays, and tougher to do so as a small business. To make it twenty-five years is an admirable feat. To achieve that and continue to prosper takes something really special and NavtechGPS is just that."
NavtechGPS is a twenty-five year young small woman-owned, value added reseller of high precision GPS systems and OEM components. NavtechGPS produces technical GPS seminars and has the largest in-stock GPS bookstore anywhere. NavtechGPS is a GSA schedule holder that participates in government projects where GPS is a component of the solution.
If you would like to participate in acknowledging all of the Annual Member Award honorees, plan to join us on the evening of April 23, 2009 as The American Small Business Coalition applauds NavtechGPS and the other honorees and celebrates five years of support to the government sector. You will be treated to an energy-filled cocktail networking reception with entertainment, a superb awards dinner and the "Freeze Frame" Photo Booth that will capture guest celebration memories in print and digitally.
