The American Small Business Coalition to Present  First Annual Small Business Awards to Winners at Reception During FOSE 2007 

Awards Program Honors Individuals and Organizations Helping Lead the Advancement of Small Business within the Government Marketplace

Washington, DC, March 12, 2007 –The American Small Business Coalition, a private membership organization providing education and business support to companies doing business with federal agencies and federal contractors, today announced it will host the First Annual Small Business Awards at FOSE. Winners of these awards demonstrate exemplary leadership and extraordinary accomplishments in the small business market. The program recognizes leaders in the small business community from both government and industry. Winners will be recognized at a special event will take place on March 21, 2007 at the exclusive City Club of Washington at Franklin Square.

The winners are:

Government Awards

  • Strategic Sourcing Award - Presented to the federal official or employee responsible for their agency’s strategic sourcing strategy which resulted in small business awards averaging 50% or more of total awards over a three year period.
    • Winner: U.S. Department of the Interior
  • Federal Outreach and Industry Education Award - Presented to the federal agency with the most effective outreach program for the previous fiscal year.
    • Winner: Kevin Boshears, U.S. Department of Homeland Security
  • Small Business Procurement Champion - Presented to the federal agency or employee(s) demonstrating the most effective procurement oversight practices.
    • Winner: U.S. Small Business Administration Procurement Center Representatives (PCR)
  • Leadership Excellence Award - Presented to the Member(s) of the United States Congress who has demonstrated untiring advocacy for the small business community.
    • Winner: The Honorable Nydia Velázquez, Chair of the House Committee on Small Business

 

Industry Awards

  • Innovation in Human Capital Management Award Presented to the organization demonstrating an innovative integration of technology with human resource functions to improve the bottom line.
  • Innovative Transformation Technology Award - Presented to the small business that has developed an application with the greatest potential to facilitate the transformation of business processes.
  • Logistics Application Award - Presented to the organization whose creative or innovative application of information technology improves the logistical distribution of goods or services.
  • Business Transformation Award Two awards presented to the organizations that developed and/or integrated a technology which adds to increased efficiency in a department or agency

Now in its 31st year, FOSE 2007 will take place on Tuesday - Thursday, March 20 - 22 at the Washington DC Convention Center.  Registration is free for government at www.fose.com.
