Tell me truthfully. Are you in the mood to be po'd by Uncle Sam? Other than the obvious meaning of the question, do you have any idea what I'm talking about?

In listening to the constant flow of feedback we receive from our members and folks from Government and Industry in general, I've decided to resort to an old approach for content delivery. Content which I believe holds tremendous value for neophytes and industry veterans alike. Since everything in life and the business of Government Contracting requires you to have a level of context in order to make use of the volumes of available information. Here you go.

Most everyone coming into and already in the business of federal contracting wants to make their mark by scarfing up so-called "low hanging fruit," those mythical business opportunities they believe no one else knows about that will result in their own government contracting windfall. While nothing in this business could be even loosely described as "easy" there are opportunities that have a shorter acquisition cycle than others that are often less arduous to identify, pursue and potentially win. Under our The ASBCs of Government Contracting™ brand we've developed an information and education series dedicated to discussing one of those opportunities.

The program is Enough Small Talk! Is Your Company Getting PO'd? and its sole purpose is to tell you what happens when federal agencies leverage purchase orders and special acquisition rules to procure billions of dollars in supplies and services, so you can identify opportunities based on what your company sells, where you sell it and which federal agencies are there to make the buy.

I'm hosting it on Blog Talk Radio and have already produced the first segment which tells you the game plan and what you can expect with each episode. You can listen to the first episode by clicking here.

I sincerely look forward to receiving your feedback about the content and even me as host. My goal for this program is to provide substantive information that clues you in as to how federal agencies procure goods and services in ways that don't typically make the headlines.

So why do I think this is newsworthy?

If you are new to federal contracting or are an established company providing goods and services not typically acquired through GSA Schedules, GWACs, Blanket Purchase Agreements or other Indefinite Delivery Contracts, purchase orders represent one of two 'Award Types' that are a most practicable opportunity for working direct with federal agencies. Since the start of FY2011, federal agencies report having procured in excess of $41 billion in goods and services via 2.1 million contract actions where a purchase order was the award instrument.

After listening to my first episode, tell me if you're ready to get PO'd by Uncle Sam.
