Procurements made using Simplified Acquisition Procedures are one of the easiest ways for Government agencies to purchase supplies and services including construction and research and development and they obligate billions of dollars every fiscal year when using this method. On top of that, more of these dollars are awarded to small business concerns every year than to non-small businesses.

That's just the start of why we refer to these purchases as low-hanging fruit for small government contractors!
