The Information Technology and Professional Services Market Intelligence Group (ITS) plans and facilitates discussions and other activities related to discovering and defining the needs of civilian and defense government organizations and their contractors for IT products, services and solutions and related Professional Services.

The ITS Presentation Breakfast Meeting is open to Members and non-members alike who are interested in participating in presentations and discussions tied to developing information and relationships related to government agency IT and Professional Services requirements.

Our presenter for the November 2008 ITS Meeting is Dr. James Morentz, Vice President for Homeland Security Technology and Outreach Director for UICDS for SAIC who will provide an update about SAIC Unified Incident Command and Decision Support activities.

About Our Speaker
James W. Morentz, Ph.D., has been an innovator in emergency management since 1975.  He was the principal investigator for the landmark National Governors' Association (NGA) studies that produced the national strategy known as Comprehensive Emergency Management that was eventually implemented in all 50 states.  He was a consultant to the President's Reorganization Project that created the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 1979.  He was the lead developer of several training and exercise courses for FEMA and has taught in ten different government and university programs.

UICDS is the "middleware foundation" funded by DHS that enables National Response Framework and National Incident Management System, including the Incident Command System, information sharing and decision support among commercial and government incident management technologies used across the country to prevent, protect, respond, and recover from natural, technological, and terrorist events.
For five years, Morentz served as Vice President for Homeland Security Technology for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and specialized in the application of advanced techniques and technologies to improve the planning for and response to all types of natural, technological, and terrorist events.  At SAIC he was also Director of SAIC's Public Safety Integration Center (PSIC), a laboratory, test bed, and demonstration center that includes technologies from more than 120 companies all integrated to engage in scenario-based performance evaluations of products and processes.  The PSIC is credited with being a discriminator in more than $2.6 billion of SAIC contract wins during Morentz's leadership.  As an outgrowth of his work in the PSIC, Morentz served as principal investigator for the development of the Department of Homeland Security's national architecture for Unified Incident Command and Decision Support.

The ITS Presentation Breakfast Meeting begins at 8:45am and occurs on the second Friday of each month at Teqcorner in McLean, VA. (CORE™ Members should register for the 8:00AM Market Intelligence Group Meeting)

Our goal each month is to provide an informative and relevant industry professional or government official to present on agency or program-specific information to assist you in the decision-making process related to government contracting opportunities.
