"Not having the information you need when you need it leaves you wanting.

Not knowing where to look for that information leaves you powerless.

In a society where information is king, none of us can afford that.”

- Lois Horowitz

Effective decision-making requires good intelligence. Harvesting good intelligence from raw and disparate data requires deliberate and timely cultivation and testing of the information to determine what value it holds.

In the end, knowing or not knowing about a business opportunity, and winning or not winning that opportunity is based on how information and relationships are managed.

Information is king.

This program specifically helps industry neophytes and veterans develop and implement a plan to extract the actionable intelligence from every day information gathered from agency and opportunity-specific exchanges, industry/local/national news, web-based open sources, and related conversations. When paired with effective business development activities, the result can be significantly increased awareness of opportunities and related agency and industry contacts.

Participate in this workshop if you cannot answer "Yes” to the following questions:

  • Do you identify business opportunities before a synopsis/solicitation is issued?
  • Do you understand the competitive landscape for the goods and/or services you offer?
  • Do you know which agencies currently leverage/procure what you offer?
  • Can agencies "reach” your specific offering based on the acquisition methods they leverage?
  • Are you achieving your organizational business growth objectives?

During this hands-on workshop, attendees will participate in substantive discussions and practical application of:

  • why market research is essential to success
  • developing and executing a process for finding and using collected information
  • determining relevance of their offering(s) to agencies and/or other contractors
  • understanding a variety of free and low-cost market research tools
  • exploiting relevant information sources to identify:
    • what goods and services agencies are buying
    • who they buy from
    • how they buy
    • who is funding the purchases
    • where the goods and services are being used (geographically)
    • competition levels
    • payment methods (EFT vs SmartPay)
    • and more!

Class size for this two-session workshop is limited to ten (10) participants to ensure maximum interaction opportunities. During the lab (second session) attendees will conduct sample market research activities specific to their product/service offering.

This two-session workshop is facilitated by Guy Timberlake, Co-Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of The American Small Business Coalition. He is also the creator of 'Ethical Stalking for Government Contractors™'
