and Friends from Government and Industry Come Together at
The ASBC Holiday
Mixer and Raise $3200 to Support “A Day of Beauty”, “Chemotherapy Buddy” and At
Home Programs for Women Undergoing Breast Cancer Treatment.
Columbia, MD December 15, 2008 – Last Wednesday evening, headlines such as the two wars,
ongoing economic woes and troubles facing almost everyone in our great nation
were left at the front door of the exclusive Tower Club in Vienna, VA as more
than one-hundred guests attended The ASBC 2008 Holiday Mixer that
doubled as a fundraiser for the Tigerlily Foundation.
celebration was an opportunity for guests to network with peers from the government
sector. They also participated in a silent auction that included a Southern
Maryland weekend getaway; boxing gloves autographed by Sugar Ray Leonard;
season tickets to the D.C. Armor (one of the teams in the American Indoor
Football Association); a membership to the Tower Club and more.
“Thanks to the generosity of the friends and members of The
ASBC we raised $3,249 to help fulfill our mission of supporting young women
affected by breast cancer,” stated Tigerlily Founder and Executive Director, Maimah
"Even in tough times like these where everyone is watching their every
dollar, the missions of groups like Tigerlily Foundation seem to prevail,”
observed Guy Timberlake, co-founder of The American Small Business Coalition.

Founded by Maimah Karmo in 2006, while undergoing chemotherapy treatments for
Stage 2 breast cancer at age thirty-two, Tigerlily provides support to young
women affected by breast cancer with programs that include the Chemotherapy
Buddy Program, Funds for Families Program, Project Gratitude and A Day of
Beauty. The organization provides women with hands-on support during treatment,
and education and awareness focused on the unique needs of young women,
including fertility, lifestyle, long-term health, financial challenges and
