Dear Guy:

I am writing to invite you to attend a reception celebrating the 20th anniversary of H.R. 5050, the Women’s Business Ownership Act of 1988.  The reception will be held in the Mansfield Room of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, September 10, from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm.  As you know, H.R. 5050 created the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC), SBA Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO), and the Women’s Business Center (WBC) Program, as well as improved women business owners' access to capital and contributed to the growth of

women-owned businesses.

At the reception, you will join fellow leaders of women’s business organizations, legislators who were at the forefront of the passage of H.R. 5050, current Congressional advocates, the “founding mothers” of the women's entrepreneurship community, members of the National Women’s Business Council, and women business owners.  We hope that you will be able to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion for women entrepreneurs and ask that you pass the invitation along to your membership by promoting the event on your website.  The link to the event can be found at:

On a personal note, as the new Chair of the National Women’s Business Council, I look forward to meeting you in person and working with you to continue the advancement of women-owned small businesses.  If you have any questions please feel free to call Margaret Barton, Executive Director, at (202) 205-3850.  To RSVP to this invitation please respond to

With Best Wishes,

Carole Jean Jordan
