SBA reassessing small-business IT size standards

Posted By Guy Timberlake, The American Small Business Coalition, LLC, Thursday, February 01, 2007
Updated: Sunday, June 29, 2008

The Small Business Administration is preparing to release later this month a proposed new regulation that could revise the annual revenue limits that determine whether information technology companies qualify as small businesses when they bid on federal IT services contracts.

I'll add to this later, but for starters, I'll say that it's a bad idea to pit $50M companies against $1M, $5M and $10M companies. If companies that exceed the established size standards need additional support, then they should form a lobby and pursue a set-aside program that does not cause harm to the companies that the current set-aside programs are intended to support.
