A "Dutch" Business Discussion at the City Club

Posted By Guy Timberlake, The American Small Business Coalition, LLC, Saturday, June 28, 2008
Last Wednesday (June 25th) we had the pleasure of hosting The Honorable Dutch Ruppersberger, the three-term U.S. Congressman from Maryland's 2nd District who serves on the House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Appropriations Committee. This was accomplished through our friend (and Member) Mike Veronis of SOCRATIQ, leveraging a relationship on our behalf.

It was a home run!

The Congressman arrived early and participated in some pre-presentation networking with a number of the attendees before we got down to business. He was accompanied by several of his staff, to include Heather Molino (Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications), his Senior Policy Advisor, Walter Gonzales and Bob Minehart, a veteran of the Intelligence Community who serves as Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence, part of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI).

The feedback we received from nearly everyone in attendance was that they were extremely appreciative of the "on-point business discussion" the Congressman facilitated regarding  [points he could specifically address related to] his work on the HPSCI and the Appropriations Committee. He elaborated on areas where he thought industry could step up to support the government mission, as well as referencing areas where government could better utilize the innovation and flexibility of its industry partners and shared details of where he saw viable business opportunities in support of ongoing and upcoming initiatives.

We'll be following up with his office for future collaborations.

Thank you Congressman Ruppersberger and staff!
