In a recent entry to the Chief Visionary Blog, I wrote about an FCW article that quoted a GSA/FEDSIM official as saying, "For acquisitions from $3,000
to $25,000, there could be a "sweet spot” for small business developers
of mobile applications and websites because the acquisitions can be
simplified and made at a more rapid pace than traditional acquisitions."
While it's been nearly nine years since Maggie and I started The American Small Business Coalition, I think I still have a bit of the "eye of the tiger" from my days as a hunter of government contracts. My point? This is at least the potential tipping point of opportunity for small contractors.
The FEDSIM official in the FCW article specifically cited micropurchases and simplified acquisitions as a way to acquire solutions "at a more rapid pace than traditional acquisitions."
So let's read between the lines for a second. Does anyone else hear the call for nimble
contractors? I sure as heck do! This is a great opportunity for small businesses to get business, build additional credibility and relationships, and gain past performance with government agencies.
By the way, for anyone who considers the per contract action dollar amount insignificant or beneath them, federal agencies spent over $2 billion dollars this way last fiscal year.
I'll be doing my part to rally the folks in our member community to tap this opportunity, anyone else interested?
